You have to try. I was raised in a house that didn't accept defeat easily. But at one point you've got to wake up and come to grips when something (a relationship) or situation just isn't working. After many fight and make up sessions this song is the epiphany and start of a brand new and hopefully better beginning.
lyrics
There's a water downed whiskey glass
Ya left it on the table when you walked away mad
You're there on the couch where you slept last night
and it all looks different in the morning light
Chorus:
Now I’m waking up seeing this clearly
My eyes are finally taking it in
I tried to hold on to what could be
But its a lie we’re living in
Sometimes it takes a some time to learn to quit dreaming of what could've been
And I’m waking up
Verse:
I’m always mending what you’re breaking here
Kept picking up the pieces cause I always feared
The mess of me wouldn’t ever suffice
For someone who was good and could love me right
Chorus:
Now I’m waking up seeing this clearly
My eyes are finally taking it in
I tried to hold on to what could be
Nut its a lie we’re living in
Sometimes it takes a some time to learn to quit dreaming of what could've been
And I’m waking up
Bridge:
Our love is an illusion trying to make it work for trying's sake
No body wins for losing and I’ve taken all I can take
Chorus:
Now I’m waking up seeing this clearly
My eyes are finally taking it in
I tried to hold on to what could be
But its a lie we’re living in
Sometimes it takes a some time to learn to quit dreaming of what could've been
And I’m waking up
